Ways to Save Money with Energy-Efficient Appliances

Everybody wants to save money in their home, and there are many ways to cut down on expenditures. A way that we can help you with lowering annual costs is through installing special energy-saving HVAC and IAQ (indoor air quality) appliances and products. Below are a few suggestions.

High Efficiency Furnace

If you have a furnace that’s over 10 years old, we recommend putting in a new one even if the current one seems to be working fine. If you replace this furnace with a high-efficiency unit that has such features as multi-stage burners, a multi-speed blower, and sealed combustion, you can make tremendous improvement. Some old furnaces have 80% to 95% AFUE ratings. These new high-efficiency furnaces can have up to 98% AFUE.

Solar Heating

You might look at this suggestion and think, “Wow, that’s too big a change!” But going solar can be much easier than you think. And the savings… there’s nothing like using the free power of the sun. You can’t get less expensive than that! We install excellent active solar heating systems.

Dehumidifier

This is something to plan for spring and summer, but it’s an excellent way to lower your bills during the middle of the year. Balancing humidity with a whole-house dehumidifier can lower the amount you need to run your air conditioner over the spring and summer by 25%.

Energy Recovery Ventilator

An ERV is a way to draw fresh air into your house while at the same time recovering the energy you use to heat and cool the house and apply it to the air. This means better air quality while saving money on heating and cooling. (That’s one of the big energy recovery ventilator advantages: it’s useful all year.)
